Whether you have stage fright or stage might, Toastmasters is a public speaking group created to provide encouragement, feedback, and commentary for every level of speaker.
Longwood Toastmasters is a new chapter of Toastmasters International. We hold weekly meetings at Harvard Medical School and welcome anyone from the Longwood Medical Area who has access to Harvard buildings.

After eight months, we’ve built a cohesive club with a number of very active and dedicated members. We’d like to announce that our club is now officially chartered with Toastmasters International, and that we have formed a full executive board. Thanks for the help of all of our members in getting us to this point, and thanks especially to our new board members for stepping up to lead this club in its effort to become even more sustainable, professional and effective than it already is. We’ve updated the Contacts section to reflect our new board.
Congratulations to all of us!
If you just can’t get enough of Toastmasters and would like to exercise your leadership skills, please let any of the current board members know. There are officer roles to be filled and to be created. Help us shape the future of this club with your unique and innovative ideas.
If you’re a new member, we suggest that you take advantage of our club’s mentorship program. Several of our more advanced members would love to help you get started in the club and grow as a public speaker. Mentoring you helps focus their public speaking skills as well.
If this interests you, contact any of our board members and we’ll set you up with the person that we think could help you the most.
This summer, we’ve invited a slew of guest speakers to talk to us about what public speaking means to them. These speakers will each speak for the first 10-20 minutes of our regular evening meetings.
Take a look at the upcoming meeting descriptions to find out more about these speakers.
If you are a union member, you are allowed to use some of your paid time for personal development programs. Our meetings qualify as personal development. Contact your union representative for confirmation and details (and let us know what they tell you).
If you’re not a union member, you may still be able to use Toastmasters as paid time if you obtain permission from your supervisor.
As many of you already know, we’ve begun to accept membership applications. Please email us or ask one of the board members at the next meeting if you have questions about membership.
